Modern Girl

The Sunday Scribbling Prompt for yesterday was modern, so I combined that with my NaBloPoMo Theme of relative, and came up with a little poem.  It's loosely based on moms and grandmas, and those ladies I have known who continue to embrace life at any age.  To me, that is the true definition of a modern girl.

A Modern Girl

She was a modern girl
Circle skirt, sweater set
Bright red lips
Poodle pet

Jitterbug made her swirl
Saddle shoes on her feet
Swinging hips
Just so sweet

In her chair feet still twirl
Graying hair, laughing eyes
Bright pink lips
It's no surprise

A modern girl she remains
She'll never settle for plain Jane

Thanks Donna! I was in the mood for a happy poem. So many of mine are from my "darker/sadder" side. Thought I'd go for something light and fun. :)

I love it ... I relate to all of it. Sometimes it feels like you are picking my brain. I always surprise myself when I look in the mirror and see gray hair. My mind and my heart are still thinking young, albeit, hopefully, more mature. We never stop being who we started out to be ... we just keep adding dimentions. Thank you for following my blog ... I am looking forward to many enjoyable exchanges.

Plenty of youthful fun here. It made me smile and think, "well why not?!"
