Happy Autumn Days...

I am loving autumn! The colors, the colder weather, some rain and some sunshine. Perfect!

Not much to share. I missed a memorial service I'd planned on going to. Sadly my memory is not what it once was. Then BSU lost. The Yankees lost. We're not even talking about the Cubs these days. I'll be rooting for the Washington Nationals in the World Series.

Yesterday, I read Clues for Real Life, The Classic Wit & Wisdom of Nancy Drew. It was a gift from my friend, Carol, a while back. I'd read most of it, then it got set aside like many of my books do when my eyes get funky. While going through several stacks of books this week, I rediscovered it. It's geared for young Nancy Drew readers, but is a fun read for those of us who grew up reading Nancy Drew mysteries! It tells how the books began and who wrote them under the name of Carolyn Keene. The book is filled with quizzes, quotes, and the beautiful book cover art. It was a lovely little trip back in time.

The business venture I mentioned a while back fell through. Now I'm working on a joint eBay/Etsy business idea with my sister. I don't know if I have the brains to figure out all the rules, taxes, etc., or the energy to make it happen. We'll see I guess. This afternoon I'll be sorting through possible inventory while listening to a recorded book, Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein. I'm almost halfway through and it'a a great book so far!

That's the latest in my world. I hope all is well with my fellow bloggers!

Spring to Summer...

I see my last post was in March and now we're almost to July. I had such great intentions in the early spring!

As is the case with most of my friends, life just gets so complicated. There have been losses and illnesses, most recently a major surgery for my eldest. All is well, thankfully. For the rest of the time, I've kept myself busy watching movies, reading books, making plans for our home and garden, trying to get my little business idea off ground, and basically just enjoying the beautiful weather we've had. It was a much colder spring than usual, my favorite! It's getting hot outside today, so I'm passively watching a series called Endeavour... British. Drama. Mystery. I'm in my happy place!

Nothing much else to write about today. Hoping all is well in your corner of the world!

Springtime Thoughts and Plans...

Hello friends! Those who are still out there in blog land anyway. I must admit, I haven't helped keep it vital and alive with my scant posting habits, but I love blogging, as well as catching up with friends who are still writing and posting their photos.

March was filled with a few difficulties and some sadness, but life continues on. There have also been moments of great joy, and it's important to remind myself, I have much to be grateful for.

You may have noticed I've changed the colors on my blog. The muted colors make it easier on my eyes, which are not liking too much bright white light these days. They're getting old, I guess. Haha!

Our new fence is up! No photos yet, but I will post some soon. It looks really nice and has even cut the traffic noise a tiny bit. Paul is out replacing posts and boards on the side fence, which we are responsible for maintaining. The new back fence is maintained by the subdivision and is a vinyl one.

About the business venture with my sis, there's been a delay but we're still making plans. In the meantime, I'm trying to tap into my creativity and start some spring projects. Some are art/craft items and others involve landscaping. The vision I originally had for the back yard is changing. The most important thing to me is to add color while keeping it low maintenance.

As much as I love sitting here typing, I must sign out and try to get started on one of those projects! Wishing you a lovely day!

Hints of Spring...

There are signs of spring all around. Tulips, irises, and hyacinths have all pushed up through the cold ground, even though we're still getting freezing weather. At my age, I don't like wishing the days away, but I have to admit I'm more than ready for springtime! So many projects just waiting to be started!

My sis and I are contemplating a small business venture. More on this in the days to come, if it comes to fruition. It is still in the early planning stages but is something we're excited to be considering.

Well, the night is quickly slipping away so I'd better try to catch a few winks before sunrise!

Winter Daydreams...

Heart, blue. Free use image by pasja1000 on Pixabay

February is giving us a cold, last blast of winter. I'm making the best of it by staying cozy, doing some reading, binge watching some TV programs I wanted to get caught up on, and day dreaming about my backyard plans. Our subdivision has finally approved a new fence. The current one is a 3 foot white vinyl picket fence. It was darling when we first moved in, over 20 years ago. Across the street behind our home were farm fields that stretched on for miles. Now it's all subdivided and the two lane road has become a four lane "freeway" with traffic racing by night and day. Our new fence is going to be a 6 foot privacy fence. I'm so excited!

A sweet Valentine's Day picture.

We will need to take out a couple of rose bushes, or at least relocate them, before the new fence goes in. I'd like to add some plantings inside the new fence line to create a sound barrier which would tone down the traffic noise. It might also help to add a small water feature. In my biggest dreams there would be a little shed added, a couple raised garden beds, and a rock garden with plantings to attract butterflies and bees. There would also be a place for hollyhocks, lilacs, hyacinths, and old fashioned rose bushes. They say if you can dream it, you can bring it into existence, so I'm filling my mind with all the possibilities!

Wishing you a beautiful day and some dreams of your own!

Just a Quick Hello...

It's been a while. This winter has been busy with so many things. I made it through the holidays, but with much less fanfare and tradition than usual. To my friends who mailed Christmas cards, Thank You! My intentions were good, but cards did not go out. The time just raced by and seemed to be filled with one crazy thing or another. Now that January is nearly over, things are finally settling down again. Even though we're having an extremely mild winter, which I know many of you are not, I am more than ready for spring! Tulips, butterflies, the return of birds and bees...

This was a quick hello, but I'm planning to do better and write a bit more often. I'll be visiting some of your blogs this week. I hope you are all still out there writing, creating, pursuing your dreams! Love and Blessings to all!
